The promises of God are reliable. God gave us promises because He loves us. He is truthful and trustworthy. He gave us numerous promises in His Word and we can claim and stand on each.
God’s Love is the Foundation
Every promise comes from His love for us. His love is His motivation.
Unconditional Love
While we were still sinning and rebelling against God, He came to us. Not to judge us, but to demonstrate His love by dying for our sins and offering a way to Him for forgiveness and redemption. We cannot earn His love. He freely gives it.
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:6
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
1 John 4:10
In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:19
We love because he loved us first.
God’s Character
God is true. He cannot lie. What He says He can be trusted for. He can be taken at His Word. He does not change. What He says, He will do.
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a human being, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen?
Isaiah 40:8
The grass dries up,
the flowers wither,
but the decree of our God is forever reliable.”
His Word Testifies
The Bible records, God’s promises kept. From Abraham to Jesus, God has consistently kept His promises. They are steadfast and He is faithful to keep every one of them.
Genesis 15:4-6
But look, the LORD’s message came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but instead a son who comes from your own body will be your heir.” The LORD took him outside and said, “Gaze into the sky and count the stars—if you are able to count them!” Then he said to him, “So will your descendants be.”
Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD credited it as righteousness to him.
Luke 1:68-75
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
because he has come to help and has redeemed his people.
For he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago,
that we should be saved from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us.
He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors,
and to remember his holy covenant—
the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham.
This oath grants
that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
may serve him without fear,
in holiness and righteousness before him for as long as we live.
Firm Foundation
God is unchanging. He is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. He can be trusted fully.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!
God’s Promises
They are for you and me. We can claim each. We can pray each over ourselves and others. We can believe and trust them because we know God is unchanging and truthful.
Promises of Provision
God fulfills all our needs. We are rich in Him. He knows us well. He knows every one of our needs and out of His love for us He will provide. We can rely on Him and trust His goodness.
From everyday needs to larger things He provides if we trust Him. As His Children we are privileged to share in Christ’s inheritance, the Kingdom of God. God cares deeply for His children and tells us many times not to worry, but to instead focus on Him. When we do that our worries, burdens and the things of this world grow dim in His light. He calls all to rest in Him. His burden is easy.
He will provide for all our needs, both physical and spiritual. He will give us what we need each day. He will sustain us and guide us. We just need to trust and have faith in Him. To fix our focus on Him and rest in His promises.
Philippians 4:19
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing?”
Matthew 6:31
So then, don’t worry saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’
Matthew 6:32
For the unconverted pursue these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
Matthew 6:33
But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:34
So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and learn from me because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”
Promises of Presence
God is always there for us. He promises to never leave us. He will never forsake us, no matter what we do. He is there with open arms ready to accept us back. His love for us is deep and wide.
He goes with us everywhere. He goes before us planning and working things out along our path. He promises to always be there for us and help us no matter what we are facing. He helps straighten our paths and smooth the road. He doesn’t promise a life free of hurt or pain, in fact He says in this life we will have that. His promise instead is to help us through and to overcome because He has overcome the world.
We can trust Him with any situation. Anything that is going on in our life, He will help us with it. He doesn’t just help us cope, but to grow and come out better and closer to Him. His love is deep for us and He can be trusted. He promises to not give us any more than we can handle and promises us strength and hope through.

the path of the righteous that you prepare is straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
Acknowledge him in all your ways,
and he will make your paths straight.
Promises of Peace
Christ is our peace. He is our rest. He promises His peace and rest to us. Not the peace of the world, but everlasting peace within our hearts and souls. If we trust and rest in Him we experience His peace.
He can give us peace in any circumstance if we let Him. He can be the one we turn to for comfort, compassion, healing, forgiveness and a way through and forward. He tells us to give Him everything.
His peace passes understanding. His peace calms us. We can rest in His sovereignty. We can know He is in complete control and working everything together for our good somehow. Only He knows how to best work things out. He allows things, but never to harm or hurt us. His ultimate plan for us is good. His love for us guides everything He does. He promises that His plans for us are for good and not harm.
John 14:27

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.
Promises of Strength
God is our strength. He sustains us. Through Him only can we go through the storms and trials of this life and overcome. He promises to be our strength and refuge. We can run to Him. He is our strong tower, our firm foundation. We can always rely on Him.
God will answer when we pray for help and strength. He is not far, but near to us, attentive to our prayers and cries for help. In His love He reaches down and reinforces us. He gives strength and hope to continue. He reminds us of His Words and gives grace and peace.
We can keep a record of the times He helped us and draw strength from His past faithfulness. God will never fail us. His faithfulness endures even when we are not faithful to Him. His love cannot let us down.

Don’t be frightened, for I am your God!
I strengthen you—
yes, I help you—
yes, I uphold you with my victorious right hand!
Promises of Salvation
Our salvation is secure. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. We are His and no one can snatch us from His Hand. The moment we believe God gives us His Spirit as an assurance that we are His. We are brought from spiritual death to life. We are forever His.
Nothing can separate us from His love. No matter how much we mess up. No matter how far we may stray away from Him. He will always accept us back with open arms. He will never reject a sincere repentant heart.
No matter what we have done or where we have been, we can come to Christ for forgiveness and a new start in Him. Do you have salvation in Christ? Do you believe? Do you know your worth in Him? Do you know why you are here on this earth?
You can start now with Him and claim all the promises He gives. Find hope, strength, peace, everything you need and most of all salvation in Him.

Conclusion
God’s promises are reliable because they rest on His unchanging nature. They remind us that our hope is not in ourselves but in a faithful God who loves us deeply and fulfills every word He speaks. (Psalm 145:13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-20)
Trusting in these promises equips us to live boldly, knowing we are secure in Him.
