Savor The Day

Share

We were made to live one day at a time. Each moment, each part of the day, all elements of each day were made for us by God. He planned our days. He has things he wants to teach and show us every day. Each day He calls out to us. Through everything He is there. We too very easily get caught in this world, in our busy schedules, in what is next, in our circumstances and situations. Then we miss Him. We miss His voice. His love for us. His gentle guidance. We miss what He has for us each day and His plan for that day. (Proverbs 16:9)

God Made Us for Him

We are each made in His image, in His likeness. He created us each uniquely. We are His special possession as His children. He loves us dearly. He pursues us and longs to walk with us each day. (Titus 2:14, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:4-5)

Live with Him Each Day

We are meant to walk with God each day. Seek Him in the morning, throughout the day and at night. Start our day talking to Him and end it talking to Him. We should constantly be praying and communicating with God about all things in our days. (Psalms 105:4, 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Know Him and Love Him

God created us with a purpose. We were made to know our creator. He longs to know us even as He fully knows and understands us because He is our creator. He loves us even in our filth of sin, rebellion against Him and our mistakes and failures. He reaches out to us first. He came and died for us first so we can know Him. He wants a personal relationship with each of us. To be our best friend, confidante and partner in life. He is always there for us. (1 John 4:19, Ephesians 5:2, Proverbs 18:24)

Worship Him

God wants our worship, not because He wants all the attention. His attention is always on us. He cares for us and is always working in our favor as His children. He wants what is best for us and worship should come out of gratitude for Him and all He does for us. Christ spoke of true worship, not just words or actions done out of habit, but true love for God through His Spirit. (John 4:23-24)

Grow in Him

We should grow in both knowledge and understanding of Him. Apply it to our life. Soak it into our hearts, not just our minds. We are to be doers not just hearing His Word, but obeying it as well. If we humble ourselves and accept His guidance each day, He will open up our viewpoint and broaden our horizons. We will see Him do wonderful things and experience the joy of our salvation. (Philippians 1:9-11, James 1:22, James 1:23-24, James 1:25)

Be with Him

Jesus prayed that His followers would always be with Him. We can trust Him as go about our days. If we draw close to Him He will draw close to us. He wants to be with us and us with Him. To guide, comfort, encourage and bring us into the work He is doing all around us. (John 17:23-24, Hebrews 10:22-23)

Rest in Him

Through Christ God gives us rest. We can rest in Him and trust His promises. We can go to Him about anything and He will help us. He gives us His peace. Spend separate specific time with Him each day to rest and be with Him praying and reading His Word. (1 John 5:4-5, John 16:33, Psalm 37:5)

Find Ourselves in Him

We can find our identity, hope and security in Jesus. He is everything we need. Our insecurities, anxiety concerns and worries can disappear when we give them to Christ. He can free us when we trust Him. We can rest in His strength. (Psalm 29:11, Ephesians 6:10, 2 Corinthians 12:9)

Communicate with Him

Prayer is a gift from God to us. We can communicate with our creator. Jesus prayed often. Jesus taught us how to pray.  He would often go off by Himself to pray. He taught us to do the same, to spend time alone with God. Prayer benefits us. It comforts, humbles, transforms, gives hope and refreshes us. We talk to God and He talks to us through His Spirit, His Word, and other believers. Time spent with Him alone is valuable to our spiritual health. (Romans 12:12, Colossians 4:2, Matthew 6:5-6, Matthew 6:7-8, Matthew 6:9-10, Matthew 6:11-12, Matthew 6:13-15, Matthew 21:22, Luke 5:16)

Help Others Find and Know Him

Shine your light. We can be a witness through our words and actions if we let Christ live through us. We are to always have an answer for those who ask about our hope. If we devote ourselves to Christ and let Him guide and direct us throughout our day we will find hope and joy in Him and radiate that out. The more we grow in Christ and the more He shows us, the more we will want to share what we have in Christ. It will overflow out of us in our everyday interactions. God’s Spirit will work through us and He has promised to always be with us. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 3:15)

Fellowship with Him and Others

As the body of Christ we are made to encourage, build up, comfort, rejoice, love and grow together. We were not meant to be separate people or just parts of Christ body doing our own thing. Instead we were made to all work together to bring about His good purpose. Just our body parts work together, we as His children are made to work together in our part for His Kingdom. God gives us each different abilities and skills to accomplish the work He planned for us long ago. Only He knows the full picture and how every piece fits. We just need to trust and follow one day at a time. Be a part of His body and join in fellowship and community in Christ and with other believers. We can grow more together than apart. (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Romans 12:15, Hebrews 10:24-25, Colossians 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 12:12, 1 Corinthians 12:18-20, 1 Corinthians 12:27)

Be our Peace, Hope, Comfort

God is always there for us. He will never leave you. No matter what he offers hope and forgiveness. God’s love is unconditional. We just need to come to Him and Trust. He will help us trust and believe when we ask. In His love He will hold, comfort, encourage, and lift us up and through whatever circumstances. (Ephesians 1:2, John 14:27, Philippians 4:6-7, Isaiah 40:31, Proverbs 3:5-6)

Listen for and to Him

God speaks softly. We need quiet in our lives to hear Him. We should always be open to His guidance and direction throughout our daily lives. Spend quiet time with Him, praying and reading His Word. When we open ourselves up to Him, when we commit ourselves to listening for and obeying Him we find contentment, joy and peace. He knows what is best. He knows us best. He created us and only wants what is best. His ways are for our good. (Jeremiah 29:11, Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 8:28, 1 Kings 19:11, 1 Kings 19:12)

Seek Him Each Day

When we spend time in His Word and prayer making our focus Him each day He will fill us. As we continually seek Him He will draw us deeper and closer into Him. We will find strength, hope, endurance, peace, love and acceptance in Him. (Lamentations 3:25, 1 Chronicles 16:11)

Be our Focus

Christ should be the center of our lives. Everything should revolve around Him. We should look to Him for each thing in our day, starting when we get up to when we go to bed. Think of Him often. Pray often. Read His Word daily. Listen for Him. Give Him everything. Rely on Him for each day. Trust Him with each day. Walk with Him everyday. (Hebrews 12:1-2, Psalm 119:11, Psalm 119:15, 1 John 3:3)

Be our Joy

Let Christ fill us with Himself. Love others and live like Him. Our hope, peace and joy will overflow to others. We are to rejoice always in Him. Choose joy. To see God’s hope and redemption in the middle of everything. (Philippians 4:4, Psalm 100:2, Acts 13:52, John 15:11)

Each Day is a Gift

Let Him be our focus and guide through each day. He will give us peace and hope. He will increase our faith and trust in Him. He will strengthen us. We will grow in Him. We will be changed. We will have abundant life in Him. Each day is precious, special, beautiful and hopeful. Each one is a new start and blessing. (Psalm 118:24)
