What about your heart?

Where is your focus?

Is it on God or the World?

When you make decisions do you make them for God or for yourself?

Are you focused on heavenly or worldly things?

Are you storing up treasures in Heaven or here on earth?

What are your values?

What is important to you?

Are you doing things to glorify God or not?

Do you say and do things for God?

What are your motives?

Is God, first, last, or somewhere in between?

What God Sees

When God sees us, when He looks at you, He sees your heart, your motives. No one can fool God. He sees everything and knows everything.

When Jesus talked to the Pharisees and other people in the New Testament, He didn’t say things to suit or please the people. He talked straight to the motives of the people. He saw right through them and sees right through us. He told the truth and He still does today. If we listen we can still heed His words and let Him change our hearts.

God Wants Our Hearts

God created each of us. He is our Father. He knows what is best for us. We need to let Him guide us, not just in some things or in some areas of our life, but in all parts every day, every moment. He wants us to trust Him. He will give us faith if we ask. He is trustworthy and faithful. His love covers us.

Our hearts reveal our true self. Whatever is in our heart shows in our life. The things we say, our actions, our attitude, our outlook on life — they all come from our heart. The human condition has made our heart tainted by sin and evil. Christ came to change that. Only He can heal our heart, take out the bad parts and replace them with Himself to make us more like Christ. Trust God’s love and grace. Give Him every part of yourself.

Seek Him First

God longs to be in the center of our lives. For everything we do and say to be for Him, for His Glory. It is easy to loose focus in life, to put other things first, to try to do things on our own, to make decisions on our own, but anything done without God, is not for Him. It will not last.

When you put Him in the center of your life, when you make Him first in everything you do things will change. He will begin teaching and showing you the truth in all things. You will begin to make decisions for Him and see things through His eyes. He will guide you in everything and provide everything you need. You will find that the things that were so important to you before have become less important. They will become dim in the light of God.

Living as God’s Children

As Christians we should not be self-centered, but God-Centered. Only through Him can we find true peace, joy, and hope. We must make Him our foundation of faith for life. Seek Him first, His Kingdom above everything else. Put others ahead of us, think of their needs, not only ours. To love others as we love ourselves. To live in harmony with others. To bear each other’s burdens. Especially the body of Christ, the church.

Live for Him each day and realize what is really important. Let Him be your focus, your center, and your foundation. Put Him first, and make a difference for His Kingdom each day. Because it is not about us, but about God. We never know when we will leave this world. We are never guaranteed tomorrow, but while we are here God wants to use us to make a lasting difference!

Matthew 6:31-34

So then, don’t worry saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the unconverted pursue these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

Colossians 3:1-3

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Matthew 6:19-21

“Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and devouring insect destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and devouring insect do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Luke 6:45

The good person out of the good treasury of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury produces evil, for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart.

Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account
