God waits, He is patient with us. He patiently works in us, renewing us and making us more like Him. He is patient all along our journey with Him. His love for us allows Him to be patient and wait for us at times as we go through life

Psalms 103:8

The LORD is compassionate and merciful; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love.

God Waits When We Choose the Wrong Way

God is hurt when we choose to not listen to Him. He truly knows best and in His love He guides us, but also gives us choice. Sometimes He lets us fall into sin to teach us. Other times sin slowly and cunningly creeps into our lives. No matter, God waits for our return. He does not force us, but will gently nudge us.

Forgiveness & Mercy

Through God’s grace He offers forgiveness and has mercy on us. Jesus is our advocate before the throne of God. All we need is to humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness. To turn from our sin and choose God and His ways and guidance again.

Restoration & Reconciliation

His will restore us. He will restore our relationship with Him. He stands ready to forgive and restore us. No matter what we do or how long and far we run from God, He waits patiently for our return. He will always accept us back.

Psalms 103:10-13

He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve. For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers over his faithful followers. As far as the eastern horizon is from the west, so he removes the guilt of our rebellious actions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on his faithful followers.

Hebrews 4:15-16

For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.

1 John 2:1

(My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.) But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous One, and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

God Waits When We Loose Faith

Hardships and troubles can beat us down and make us question God and what we believe. They can be so dark and last so long we lose hope. We can wonder where God is and what good could come from such darkness and tragedy.

Doubt & Questions

When God seems far away and the storms of life surround us, questions and doubts can come and settle in our hearts and minds That is natural, it’s human and it’s okay. We can give them to God and ask Him to help us believe and trust Him. He will not resent us or fault us for our doubts and questions. We can honestly and sincerely talk to God about them. He will patiently wait for us to come to Him and will answer us.

Fear & Hesitation

When we are afraid and question the next step, we can still trust God’s faithfulness. Even when we are unfaithful, God is faithful. He will wait until we give it all to Him. He patiently loves us. He will give us faith to trust and clear guidance.

2 Timothy  2:13

If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, since he cannot deny himself.

John 20:27-28

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and examine my hands. Extend your hand and put it into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.”  Thomas replied to him, “My Lord and my God!”

God Waits When We Can’t Let Go

Sometimes God makes a decision or a way clear to us, but we ignore it. He opens a door and we turn around and go the opposite direction. We know what we should do, but decide not to do it. We think we know best. We don’t want to make the change God asks of us. We are afraid of taking the step or the outcome. God will continue to make the way clear and nudge us while waiting for us to make the move.

Pride & Stubbornness

We can become prideful, thinking our way is better. We can be stubborn, not wanting to move. We go our own way, take our own path. We stubbornly refuse God’s urging and guidance. God waits for us to realize our error. God will sometimes make the way hard to point us in the right direction. Other times God lets us experience the consequences of our way. Either way God patiently deals with us in His love.

Procrastination & Anxiety

Worry and anxiety can make us pull back from God’s guidance. Or we can just think we will get to doing God’s will, His teaching and guidance, when we feel better, get this done, in a better place, have certain things or any other reason. We push off the decision, opportunity, conviction, choice, and change. We miss the faith and growth in God because we wait. God patiently works in us and waits for us to trust Him.

Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Matthew 6:27

And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life?

Psalms 25:12

The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live.

Proverbs 10:29

The way of the LORD is like a stronghold for the upright, but it is destruction to evildoers.

God Waits & Works

We can overcome fear, doubt, questions, hesitation, pride, sin, wrong paths and gain strength and confidence through Christ. God will wait for us in His grace and love for us, while continuing to speak to us and nudge us the right way.

1 Peter 5:7

by casting all your cares on him because he cares for you.

Lamentations 3:40

Let us carefully examine our ways, and let us return to the LORD.

Psalms 25:4-9

Make me understand your ways, O LORD. Teach me your paths. Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts. Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD. The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. May he show the humble what is right. May he teach the humble his way.
